L&DA adds Level 2 Avoidance of Underground Services qualification to portfolio

Learning and Development Associates (L&DA) has welcomed the addition of the Level 2 Award in Utility Avoidance and the Location of Buried Services in Construction to its growing qualification portfolio.

Following continued engagement across the utility sector, specialist qualification provider L&DA identified the demand for training for organisations working near underground services.

The dangers of working near underground services is one of the key risk factors for anyone involved in utility activities. The addition of the leading Level 2 Award will enable L&DA to provide clients with the knowledge and skills to effectively and safely locate buried services, as well as provide advice and instruction on how to reduce the risks involved.

Accredited by Pro-Qual Awarding Body, the qualification covers the full spectrum of learning outcomes essential for personnel involved in utility avoidance and the location of buried services to equip a learner to be able to perform effectively and safely in their role. The learning outcomes range from understanding published guidance and the importance of regulations to recognising electromagnetic fields and the ability to close out a site.

Richard Mort, Business Development Director at L&DA, said: “Learning and Development Associates already deliver a number of industry-related qualifications that aim to advance competency across all utilities. We are an organisation dedicated to initiatives that will bring real tangible benefit to our colleagues across the utility sector.

There is a real risk and even potential danger of working near underground services and the addition of the trusted Pro-Qual Level 2 Award to our portfolio to support the reduction of direct risks to the health and safety of utility field personnel will be of wider benefit to everyone working in the sector”
