This qualification is designed for Wastewater Network Technicians and Operators.

The qualification will develop your technical skills and understanding of wastewater networks and improve your performance. It will help you gain expert knowledge in wastewater network design, regulatory compliance, and best practices for efficient operation and maintenance. Understand regulatory compliance with respect to Wastewater Networks
Explain the importance of good customer service
Understand the design requirements of the Wastewater Network
Explain the impact on people and the environment of uncontrolled Wastewater Network discharges
Understand the principles of and best practice associated with the successful operation of the Wastewater Network
Explain the operation of a pumping station with particular reference to level control and overflows
Understand the causes of failure and customer complaints relating to the performance of the Wastewater Network and the techniques used to determine the cause
Describe the impact of poor performance of the wastewater network on the public and environment
Understand the techniques used to restore the performance of the Wastewater Network
Explain the procedures required to be followed when repairing and/or replacing components of the network
Understand the need for the Water Industry to become more resilient
State the potential impacts of climate change on the Water Industry.

Assessment

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge and/or skills described in the units. Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. Each candidate is required to produce evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

Upon successful completion of their qualification, learners are able to progress to further learning within the suite of Water Level 5 Qualifications – i.e. completing an Award or Certificate and topping up to Foundation Degree and on to Honours Degree.

Learners may also wish to further their ongoing personal and professional development by accessing other qualifications.
